Putting yourself in front of a new audience.
Hashtags
Hashtags are bits of text that are added to the end of captions on posts. They start with a "#" sign and tell the platform what the post is about and who it's for. Users can also search for specific hashtags to help them find relevant content. So think about what your target audience might search for. Using hashtags can help make your searches more relevant to the content you are looking for as well, Hashtags are most effective on Instagram and TikTok. They can also be useful on sites like YouTube and facebook.
Geotag
Geo tags are "location" tags. This allows you to show a location on your post i.e., a city or a town or smaller locations such as a specific restaurant or venue. However, not all platforms have these but if you are given the option to add your location to a post, its useful to do. This is because people that search those location tags will see you content. In particular, this is useful if you have a local business that operates in a specific area.
Videos
All social media platforms now prioritise Video content over text or photographs. This means that your video content will get shown in more of your followers feeds than if you post an image or text. Creating short form videos on instagram, youtube etc... is a great way to get seen by new people as they are shown to everyone not just people who are already following you. This is a great way to attract new followers to your profile.
Collaborations
Collaborations are another great way to put yourself in front of an audience. This works by allowing you and your brand to team up wit another and reach each others audiences, This can be done through social media posts or live videos, however the difference is, is that it is a joint post that you can both share, that is relevant to both your audiences, and tag each other. It is also important to include a call to action (CTA) in the caption asking your audience to follow your collaborators profile and maybe like some of their posts.
Sharing Content
Sharing Content is a tricky way to try and reach new audiences because there is no sayings if people will or wont share your content, and if so, what content will they share? If one post in particular is shared more that others it could cause the post to go viral. Going viral is the best thing to come out of social media marketing. However the key is to think about what content it is that will go viral. So its crucial to think about what sort of content you might share. For example, an inspirational quote, or a post that your customers might find useful. Creating relevant content that people will share on their own profiles will help you and your business get in front of more people.
Outbound Engagement
Outbound Engagement is rarely used and is another way of putting yourself in front of an audience. by taking a few minuets each day to focus on your audience. For example, following the accounts of your ideal target audience, commenting on their posts and photos, and connecting with the people on their follower lists. By taking this time to engage with other users about their own content, this is a great way to build relationships with people and encourage them to check out your profile.
